Getting started with the repair of your Galaxy S5 Neo

Removing the back cover
Put your finger in the appropriate hollow to detach the back cover from the chassis. This hollow is slightly above the standby button. The back cover is hooked onto the chassis.

Remove the back cover.
Removing the battery
Use your finger to lift the battery out of the device. There’s a hollow in the chassis where you can easily access the battery.

Remove the battery.
Detaching the display glass
The display glass is glued to the chassis. Heat the display with hot air so it’s easier to remove from the chassis.

Insert a pick between the display and the chassis, and use a suction cup to lift the display. Repeat this process for the entire device. If the glue is too strong, heat the display again.
Disconnecting the display
Lift the display glass and flip it over 180° at the top of the device.

Now the display is exposed. It’s glued to the chassis so you need to heat it with hot air before the next step.

Using the steel laboratory spatula, carefully detach the display. Insert the spatula between the display and the chassis.

Once the display is detached, you can carefully flip it over 180° just like the display glass. Note that the display unit is connected to the device under the display.

Removing the display
There’s a plastic part securing the display’s flexible flat cable. Detach this bar and remove it.

Using the pointed tip of the spudger, carefully disconnect the plug connection from the logic board.

Remove the display.
Connecting the display
Connect the new display to the logic board.

Position the bar above the plug connection again and secure it.
Attaching the display
Put the display in its original position on the chassis.

Firmly press the display onto the entire surface with your finger so the glue will hold the display on the chassis. You can also clamp the display and heat it.
Installing the battery
Put the battery in the appropriate slot in the chassis. Make sure the battery’s four gold contacts are touching the four gold springs in your device.
Attaching the back cover
Position the back cover on the chassis.

Use your finger to press the back cover firmly onto the entire device. The back cover has to hook onto the chassis. You can hear it click into place.
