    iFlex Opening Tool

Opening your smartphone can be a very delicate operation, especially if the glue is very persistent. The blade of the flexible but sturdy iFlex measures just 0.15 mm, so it fits in even the smallest gaps, such as between the screen and the frame. The practical iFlex is made of stainless steel and sits comfortably in the hand. This makes it the perfect assistant for every smartphone repair.

Getting started with the repair of your Galaxy A7 (2018)

If you get stuck or have questions, you can post a comment. We’d be happy to help.

2 steps
  1. Removing the back cover

    1. The back cover’s really glued to the chassis. Heat the device evenly with hot air to soften the glue. A temperature of 60 - 80°C should be sufficient. As a rule of thumb, you should still be able to touch your device without it being uncomfortably hot.

Be careful not to hurt yourself on sharp glass edges when your back cover is shattered.

    1. The easiest way to loosen the back cover is to use a flat and flexible tool such as the iPlastix or iFlex. You will also need several picks to unstick the back cover all around.
    2. Heat the spot where you start and place a flat tool between the back cover and the frame.
    3. Once the tool is inserted, stick a pick into the gap to keep it open. Then run the tool around the entire edge to gradually loosen the glue.
    4. Then heat the next part and insert the picks one by one.
Use a suction cup to lift the glass if you can’t find anywhere to insert the tool

Your new backcover may already have new adhesive surfaces attached to it. But it is also possible that backcover and adhesive are delivered separately.

    1. First remove all the glue left on the middle frame.
    2. Then take the new adhesive frame and orient yourself at the opening of the cameras to position it correctly.
    3. Peel off the transparent protective film and put the adhesive frame on the top side and let it slide slowly into the device.
    4. Make sure it sits straight and doesn't protrude beyond the frame.
    5. Press the adhesive firmly to the frame. You can use a spudger to do this.
    6. Remove the second plastic film and check if the black glue is flush everywhere.

If your backcover already has glue, then remove all foils above the glue surfaces now.

    1. Then put the backcover back in its original position.
    2. Press the backcover over the entire surface so that the adhesive bonds.
    3. In addition, you can heat the device with hot air and then clamp the device or weigh it down with a few books to make the glue hold even better.
