Switching off your device
Switch off your device. Press and hold the power button until a menu appears. Select “Power off” and tap again to confirm.
Removing the back cover screws
2 × Pentalobe

Unscrew and remove the two pentalobe screws at the bottom of the device that keep the cover closed.
You need a Pentalobe PL1 screwdriver, which is also used for iPhones.
Removing the SIM card tray
Insert your SIM tool into the little hole on the tray to unlock the tray.
Remove the tray and any SIM or microSD cards.
Lifting the back cover
Be very careful during this step.
Place the suction cup as far down on the back cover as possible, for example where it says “Huawei.”
Pull on the suction cup while using the pick to push the display against the table. As soon as a gap appears between the display and the back cover, you can carefully insert the pick.
Move the pick along the edges to disconnect the back cover from the sides. Continue to pull carefully on the suction cup.
The fingerprint sensor is installed in the back cover. A flex cable connects this sensor to the motherboard. Be careful when you take off the display to avoid damaging the cable or board.
Carefully lift the back cover. Slowly fold open the device at the upper edge like a book. Now you should see the fingerprint sensor flex cable.
Disconnecting the fingerprint sensor

The screw holding the plate over the display connector is covered by a round sticker. Remove this sticker.
Unscrew the screw and remove the plate. The connector is attached to the cover and comes off with it.
Disconnecting the battery

Disconnect the connector of the black flex cable leading to the battery using a flat tool.
Removing the front camera

Front camera connector

Unscrew the screw of the metal plate over the connector of the front camera.
Remove the plate.
Carefully remove the connector using a spudger.
Remove the front camera from its bracket.
Removing the audio port

Disconnect the connector using a spudger and remove the audio port.

Unscrew the screw on the plate covering the connectors of the two large flex cables. Then remove the plate.

Disconnect the two flex cable connectors on the motherboard using a spudger.

Disconnect the connector of the antenna cable on the lower circuit board. Now you can reach the screw for the lower plate covering the connector of the large flex cable with the arrow.

Unscrew the screw of the lower plate and remove the plate.

Use a spudger to disconnect the connector and then remove the flex cable.
Removing the speaker

Unscrew the screw of the speaker.
Remove the speaker.
The speaker is lightly glued on, so you might need to lever it carefully using a flat tool.
Removing the lower circuit board

Disconnect the connector of the speaker using a spudger.
Unscrew the two screws of the lower circuit board. For the lower screw, first remove the round sticker.
Now remove the lower circuit board.

Removing the motherboard

Antenna cable

Disconnect the antenna cable's connector.
Remove the three remaining screws of the motherboard.
Carefully lift up the battery flex cable.
Remove the entire motherboard (including the main camera).
You should always disconnect the battery connector right after opening the device. In this step, you are just unglueing the battery cable.
Inserting the motherboard

Insert the motherboard into the new display. Make sure that the main camera is inserted into its bracket.
Screw the three Phillips screws into their screwholes on the corners of the motherboard. Leave the hole on the lower right of the mainboard in the image free for now.
Reconnect the antenna cable to the motherboard. First place the connector straight over its socket. Then carefully press down the connector until it snaps into place.
Inserting the speaker

Insert the speaker into its original position and softly press it in to make it stick.
Fasten the speaker using one Phillips screw.
Inserting the lower circuit board

Insert the lower circuit board into its original position. Make sure not to cover the flex cable connector of the speaker.
Fasten the two Phillips screws on the lower edge of the circuit board. Leave the screwhole at the battery free for now.
Press down the speaker's connector to connect it.
Attach the round sticker to the screw next to the speaker. It's just a moisture indicator. If it's broken, you don't need to reattach it.
Connecting the flex cables and the antenna cable

Make sure that all connectors are properly in place before you press them in, or they might get damaged.
Place the large flex cable with the arrow between the two circuit boards.
Connect the connector to the lower circuit board. Make sure the arrow shows up (towards the motherboard).
Place the bracket plate over the connector, latch it in, and use the Phillips screw to fasten it.
Connect the antenna cable to the lower circuit board. First lead it around the vibration motor. Then position the plug straight over its socket. Then press down the plug using a spudger until it snaps into place. (Repeat this step at the other end of the antenna cable, if it isn't connected.)
Press down the black battery flex cable to make it stick. Do not connect the battery yet!
Connect the large flex cable with the arrow to the motherboard.
Connect the middle flex cable to the motherboard.
Place the bracket plate over the connectors of the two large flex cables, latch it in, and fasten it with the Phillips screw.
Inserting the audio port

Insert the audio port into the display.
Connect the connector of the audio port to the motherboard.
Inserting the front camera

Insert the front camera into the display.
Carefully connect the connector of the front camera to the motherboard.
Place the plate over the connectors of the earpiece and the front camera, latch it in, and fasten it with the Phillips screw.
Connecting the battery

Now connect the battery again.
Connecting the back cover
Finger print sensor connector

Connect the connector of the fingerprint sensor on the back cover to the motherboard.
The display connector is connected to a metal plate. Latch in the metal plate and press down the connector.
Screw in the metal plate (1x Phillips screw).
Stick the round moisture indicator onto the screw, if you still have it.
Attaching the back cover
First latch in the back cover at the top edge (by the camera) and then place it on the display.
Press down the back cover all around carefully to make it snap into place.
Installing the SIM tray
Insert the SIM tray and any cards back into your device. Make sure the tray is positioned properly.

Fasten the two pentalobe screws at the bottom of the device that keep the cover closed.

You need a Pentalobe PL1 screwdriver, which is also used for iPhones.
