11 steps
  1. Turning off your Device

iPhone 6s - Turning off your Device 02
    1. Turn your iPhone off completely to avoid damaging it during the repair. Press the standby button for about three seconds until the slider appears.
    2. Wipe it from left to right. Now your iPhone will shut down completely, which can take about ten seconds.
  2. Removing the enclosure screws

iPhone 6s - Removing the enclosure screws 01
    1. You need a pentalobe screwdriver to open the iPhone 6s.
    2. Remove the two pentalobe screws at the bottom of the enclosure. They are located to the right and left of the Lightning connector. Put the screws in the same container.
      2 x 3.8 mm pentalobe screw
  3. Lifting the display

    iPhone 6s - Lifting the display 01
    iPhone 6s - Lifting the display 02
    iPhone 6s - Lifting the display 03
    iPhone 6s - Lifting the display 04
    1. Put your iPhone 6s on a soft, clean surface to avoid scratching the back.
    2. To lift the front panel, you need a suction cup, a hard plastic pick and a heat gun. If the screen is severely cracked, cover all of it with packing tape before you continue.
    3. The screen is lightly glued to the frame. Use a heat gun to heat the outer edges of the display to about 60°C (140°F).
    4. Place the suction cup over the Home button (if possible) or next to it. While lifting the screen with the suction cup, insert the hard plastic pick between the aluminum frame and the display frame and press down the aluminum frame. Also use the hard plastic pick to raise the screen. This usually takes several attempts.
    5. As soon as you can lift the screen a few millimeters, you have to carefully work your way around the outside until it’s loosened on both sides.
If necessary, heat the outer edges of the display a few times.
  4. Disconnecting the battery contact

iPhone 6s - Disconnecting the battery contact 01

    1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the Phillips screws on the battery connector. Then lift the cover. Put all the parts in the same container.
      1 x 2.2 mm Phillips screw
      1 x 2.9 mm Phillips screw
    2. Now carefully lift the battery connector by inserting the ESD spudger slightly below the connector. If you don’t have a spudger, you can also try using your fingernail.
  5. Disconnecting the display connectors

iPhone 6s - Disconnecting the display connectors 01

iPhone 6s - Disconnecting the display connectors 03
    1. First remove the four Phillips screws from the silver cover. Put the screws in the same container. Then lift the cover to remove it.
      3 x 1.3 mm Phillips screw
      1 x 2.9 mm Phillips screw
    2. Disconnect the following three overlapping connectors in the order shown below. Be very careful. Carefully place the pointed tip of the spudger below the contact and lift it up.
      Front camera/sensor/earpiece/ambient microphone
      Touch ID cable
      Display
  6. Removing the earpiece

    1. The earpiece is on the back of the display unit. Remove the three Phillips screws from the cover on the earpiece and put them in the same container.
      2 x 2.2 mm Phillips screw
      1 x 1.8 mm Phillips screw
    2. Now remove the cover. The cover is still attached to the back of the display by an adhesive strip. Put it with the screws you removed before.
    3. The earpiece is under the front camera’s ribbon cable. Fold the cable slightly to the side so you can remove the earpiece.
  7. Installing the earpiece

    iPhone 6s - Installing the earpiece 01
    iPhone 6s - Installing the earpiece 02
    iPhone 6s - Installing the earpiece 03
    1. Put the earpiece back in its original position between the FaceTime camera and the sensors. Then put the cover back on. Put the adhesive strip back in its original position.
    2. Now fasten the Phillips screws. Make sure the front camera is centered on the front of the display. Move it slightly if necessary.
      2 x 2.2 mm Phillips screw
      1 x 1.8 mm Phillips screw

Note that the screws aren’t the same length. If you mix them up, a screw will press against the display glass from the inside and damage it.

  8. Connecting the display

    iPhone 6s - Connecting the display 01
    iPhone 6s - Connecting the display 02
    iPhone 6s - Connecting the display 03
    1. Reconnect the connectors. Connecting the display connector generally takes a few tries. Be very careful to avoid bending the connector.

    2. Start your iPhone as soon as the connectors are securely attached. Check the function of the LCD, touchscreen, proximity sensor, front camera and earpiece.
If the display connectors aren’t connected properly, stripes will appear on the display or parts of the touchscreen won’t work.
    3. Now install the cover and screw it in place.
      3 x 1.3 mm Phillips screw
      1 x 2.9 mm Phillips screw

    1. Now screw in the two pentalobe screws at the bottom of the enclosure.
      2 x 3.8 mm pentalobe screw
  11. Attaching the display

    iPhone 6s - Attaching the display 01
    1. Then carefully fold down the screen. Make sure that the edge on the upper part of the screen where the cables are clicks into place properly. Now carefully push the screen on toward the Home button until it is properly installed in the frame.
