  1. Switching off your device

    1. Turn off your device by holding down the power button until the “Power off” option appears.
    2. Use your finger to confirm that you want to shut down your Galaxy S8 and wait until the screen goes blank.
  2. Removing the back cover

To loosen the back cover, use a heat gun or an ordinary hair dryer. Warm glue is easier to loosen, allowing you to remove the back cover. The easiest way to loosen the back cover is to use a flat and flexible tool such as the iPlastix or iFlex.

You will also need several picks to unstick the back cover all around.

    1. Heat the spot where you start and place a suction cup on the bottom of the back cover.
    2. Press a flat tool between the back cover and the frame and pull on the suction cup.

The iPlastix is made of plastic, so it won't scratch the device. On the other hand, it's very soft and tricky to insert.

Be extra careful, the back cover can break very easily. If necessary, apply the heat several times and try again. Removing the back cover might take half an hour. Take a little more time and work carefully to make sure you don't break anything.

    1. Once the tool is inserted, stick a pick into the gap to keep it open. Then run the tool around the entire edge to gradually loosen the glue.
    2. Then heat the next part and insert the picks one by one.

The back cover glue is extra strong on the lower edge.

    1. Once the back cover is loosened, lift it very slightly. The fingerprint sensor underneath the camera is still connected with a cable.
  3. Disconnecting the fingerprint sensor

    1. After detaching the back cover, carefully lift it and disconnect the fingerprint sensor using the spudger.
    2. Then you can completely remove the back cover and set it aside.
  4. Removing the plastic cover

    • 8 × 3,6 mm Phillips Schraube
    1. Remove the screws that attach the upper cover to the display.
    2. The cover with the NFC antenna is glued onto the battery. Heat the part with the NFC antenna slightly with a heat gun or hairdryer.
    3. Then carefully insert a flat tool under the antenna and remove it. The cover is hooked onto the enclosure.
  5. Removing the NFC antenna

    1. Carefully slide in a steel spatula where the wireless charging coil is glued to the NFC antenna and pry off the contact.
    2. Now slowly remove the entire flex cable from the cover.

If the cable is hard to remove, you can use a heat gun to soften the glue.

  6. Installing the NFC antenna

    1. Reattach the NFC antenna. Use the small plastic pins on the cover to position it correctly.
    2. Press the flex cable to the back of the cover to glue it on.

    • 8 × 3,6 mm Phillips Schraube
    1. Put the cover with the antenna back in the enclosure after hooking it onto the top of the enclosure.
    2. Then press the cover with your fingers until it clicks gently into place all over.
    3. Fasten the 8 phillips screws.
  8. Attaching the back cover

Galaxy S8 - Attaching the back cover 01

Galaxy S8 - Attaching the back cover 03
    1. Put the back cover back in its original position.
    2. Connect the fingerprint sensor again.
    3. Press the back cover on all over so the glue will stick.

You can also heat your device with hot air and then clamp it or weight it down with a couple books so the glue will stick better.
