Getting started with the repair of your Galaxy S10e

If you get stuck or have questions, you can post a comment. We’d be happy to help.

10 steps
  1. Switching off your device

Galaxy S10e - Switching off your device 01
Galaxy S10e - Switching off your device 02
Galaxy S10e - Switching off your device 03
    1. Turn off your device by holding down the power button until the “Power off” option appears.
    2. Use your finger to confirm that you want to shut down your device and wait until the screen goes blank.

Klick the small Play button in the top right of an image to play a video for each step.

  2. Removing the back cover

    1. The back cover’s heavily glued to the chassis. Heat the device evenly with hot air to soften the glue. A temperature of 60 - 80°C should be sufficient. As a rule of thumb, you should still be able to touch your device without it being uncomfortably hot.
    2. The easiest way to loosen the back cover is to use a flat and flexible tool such as the iPlastix or iFlex. You will also need several picks to unstick the back cover all around.
    3. Heat the spot where you start and place a flat tool between the back cover and the frame.

The iPlastix is made of plastic, so it won't scratch the device. On the other hand, it's very soft and tricky to insert. The iFlex makes it easier to get into the gap between the glass and the frame because it's made of very thin, stable metal. But it also makes it easier to scratch the frame of your S10e. To get into the gap initially, you can use the iFlex and then continue with the iPlastix as soon as possible.

Be extra careful, the back cover can break very easily. If necessary, apply the heat several times and try again. Removing the back cover might take half an hour. Take a little more time and work carefully to make sure you don't break anything.

    1. Once the tool is inserted, stick a pick into the gap to keep it open. Then run the tool around the entire edge to gradually loosen the glue.
    2. Then heat the next part and insert the picks one by one.
Use a suction cup to lift the glass if you can’t find anywhere to insert the tool.
  3. Removing the plastic cover

    • 8 × 3,9 mm Phillips
    1. Loosen the Phillips screws that secure the cover. The contactless charging coil and NFC antenna are attached to the plastic cover.
    2. The cover is hooked into the top of the housing and the lower part is lightly glued on. Carefully slide a flat tool under the attached areas and loosen them.
    3. Now you can remove the cover together with the coil.
  4. Disconnecting the battery

If the adhesive on the back cover is still intact, you can seal your device without using a new adhesive frame.

    1. Put the back cover back in its original position.
    2. Press the back cover on all over so the glue will stick.

You can also heat your device with hot air and then clamp it or weight it down with a couple books so the glue will stick better.

If you install a new backcover, now remove the last protective films from the adhesive surfaces.
