  1. Removing the SIM card tray

    1. First turn off your OnePlus One.
    2. You can use the SIM Tool or a paperclip to remove the SIM card tray. Press the SIM Tool into the small hole in the SIM card tray to remove it.
  2. Removing the back cover

    1. Insert a thin, flat, tapered spudger into the gap at the corner of your smartphone. There are several clips on the outside under the back cover. You have to disconnect them by moving the spudger around the entire smartphone one time. Alternatively, you can detach the back cover using your fingernails.
    2. Then you can take off the back cover.
  3. Removing the plastic cover

    1. Remove all 15 Phillips screws that hold the plastic cover in place.
    2. 5 Phillips screws are hidden under a rubber cover. Use a sharp object to lift out the cover.
      12 x 3.1 mm Phillips screws
    3. Now you can remove the following screws.
      12 x 3.1 mm Phillips screws
      2 x 3.1 mm Phillips screws (small)
      1 x 3.1 mm Phillips screw
    4. Lift out the logic board cover. Carefully insert the pointed tip of the ESD spudger into the headphone jack and lift the black cover. Also pry it out at other points.
  4. Removing the battery

    1. If your OnePlus One is still on, turn it off now by holding down the standby button for about three seconds and following the prompt on the display.
    2. Now you can detach the battery connector. Be very careful. Place the pointed tip of the spudger very slightly below the contact and carefully lift it up. The pictures show where you should put the spudger to avoid breaking off the little resistors even if it slips.
    3. Now lift the battery with the spudger and then remove it.
  5. Removing the speakers

    1. Insert the flat end of the spudger below the cover at the level of the charging port and carefully lift the cover. The stereo speakers are under it.
    2. Now you can remove them.
  6. Disconnecting the antenna cable

    1. ZFirst you have to remove the two black stickers on the side. You can easily pull them off with a pair of tweezers.
    2. Now you can disconnect the antenna cable from the connector using the pointed tip of the metal spatula, and then remove it.
  7. Disconnecting the buttons

    1. The standby button and volume buttons are attached to separate ribbon cables, which are soldered onto the logic board.
    2. Using the metal spatula, detach the cable, which is lightly glued to the frame.
  8. Disconnecting the connectors on the logic board

    1. Now you can disconnect the following five connectors. Be very careful.
    2. Place the pointed tip or flat end of the spudger very slightly below the contact and carefully lift it up. Make sure you don’t break off the resistors/coils that are soldered onto the logic board.
  9. Removing the logic board

    1. Now you can carefully lift the logic board using the spudger and remove it by hand.
  10. Removing the earpiece

    1. Remove the earpiece. Insert the pointed tip of the laboratory spatula or spudger below the earpiece. It’s sometimes glued firmly in place. If you still can’t detach the earpiece, you can use a heat gun to warm it slightly and soften the glue.
    2. Now remove it.

    1. Now remove the two ribbon cables, which are lightly glued in place next to each other.
    2. First pull off the ribbon cable for the Micro-USB port. It’s lightly glued to the frame. You can also pull off the cable separately, along with the port.
    3. Now you have to pull off the ribbon cable for the stereo speakers, the vibration motor and the antenna connector. An extension of it goes into the frame a little bit. You also have to detach this part.
    4. The second large ribbon cable is also glued to the lower edge of the frame. Carefully insert the flat end of the spudger below the cable and detach it.
    5. Now remove it.

    1. You still have remove the heat shield and the copper pad.
  14. Preparing the new display

    1. Not all available displays have the same features. If necessary, you may have to transfer more parts than the ones we talk about here before installing your new screen.
    2. Now remove the plastic film from the adhesive strips. (You can also do this later.)
    3. Stick the heat shield and copper pad back in their original positions.
  15. Installing the dock connector and speaker cables

    1. Now put the dock connector and speaker cables back in their original positions.
    2. The dock connector cable just goes on the speaker cable where the old glue holds it in place.
  16. Installing the earpiece

    1. Now put the earpiece back in the appropriate position.
  17. Installing the logic board

    1. Now put the logic board back in the frame.
    2. Make sure the cables don’t get under the logic board.
    3. Use the picture to check whether your logic board is positioned correctly.
    4. Insert the little placeholder on the display connector.
    5. Reconnect all the connectors to the logic board.

    1. Install the standby button and the volume buttons again. Use the spatula to press them into the appropriate positions.
  19. Connecting the antenna cable

    1. Now guide the antenna cable back through the little opening and connect it securely to the logic board.
    2. Then put the adhesive strips back on.
  20. Inserting the speakers

    1. Now install the cover with the stereo speakers and put them back in the appropriate positions.
  21. Installing the battery

    1. Put the battery back in and connect it.

    2. Then fasten all the Phillips screws again.

    3. Don’t forget to put the little rubber plugs back in.

    1. It’s very easy to put the back cover back on. Put it on in the correct position and press it on all the way around the phone until it’s completely clicked into place.
