  1. Switching off your device

    1. Switch off your device. Press and hold the power button until a menu appears. Select “Power off” and tap again to confirm.
  2. Removing the SIM card tray

    1. Insert your SIM tool into the little opening on the tray to unlock the tray.
    2. Remove the SIM tray and, if applicable, the SIM and microSD cards.
  3. Removing the enclosure screws

    1. Unscrew and remove the two screws at the bottom of the device that keep the enclosure closed.
  4. Lifting the display

    1. Put the suction cup as far down on the display as possible, for example where it says “Huawei.” If the glass is too cracked for the suction cup to generate a vacuum, you can cover the display with tape.
    2. Pull on the suction cup while using the pick to push the back cover against the table. As soon as a gap appears between the display and the enclosure, you can carefully insert the pick.
    3. Also move the pick along the edges to disconnect the display on the sides. Continue to pull carefully on the suction cup.
    4. The fingerprint sensor is installed in the back cover. A flexible flat cable connects this sensor to the motherboard. Be careful when you take off the display to avoid damaging the cable or board.

    5. Carefully lift the display. Slowly open the device at the short upper edge like a book. Now you should be able to see the connection cable.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the motherboard by carefully inserting the spudger below the contact and disconnecting it.

    • Antenna Cable
    1. Disconnect the white antenna cable from the motherboard to uncover the screw below it.
    2. Remove the two screws that hold the plate in place.
    3. Using the tweezers, carefully remove the plate. The plate is hooked onto the motherboard both at the screw holes and in the middle.
    4. Using the spudger, carefully disconnect the battery contact.
    5. Then disconnect the wide flexible flat cable that goes to the lower board from the motherboard.
  6. Removing the rear camera

    • 2 × 2,5 mm PH00 Phillips-Schrauben
    1. Remove the two screws that hold the plate in place.
    2. Remove the plate.
    3. Disconnect the camera’s plug contact from the motherboard by inserting the spudger under the contact.
    4. Remove the camera from the enclosure.
  7. Removing the control buttons

    1. Disconnect the connection to the motherboard.
    2. The control buttons are glued to the display frame. Insert the steel spatula between the buttons and the frame. Start on one side.
    3. Then continue on the other side.
    4. Remove the buttons.

    1. Remove the screw that holds the plate in place.
    2. Remove the plate from the motherboard.
    3. Disconnect the display contact from the motherboard. Insert your spudger at the edge of the plug contact and carefully pry it out of the socket.
  9. Removing the motherboard

    • 2 × 2,5 mm PH00 Phillips-Schrauben
    1. Two screws hold the motherboard in the enclosure. Remove the screws.
    2. The board is also clamped into the enclosure. Use the spudger in the middle of the right side to detach it.
    3. Then put the spudger in the upper left corner and carefully pry out the board.
    4. Remove the board.

    1. Fold the battery connection cable over to uncover the ends of the adhesive strips.
    2. The battery is glued to the enclosure in three places (marked in green). You can pull the upper two adhesive strips by the ends.
    3. Detach the two ends of the adhesive strips from the battery so you can pull on them.
    4. Then pull one adhesive strip after the other. Pull them as flat as possible at a consistent speed so the strips won’t tear.

  12. Removing the battery

    Be very careful during this step. Use a flat, blunt tool like the round end of the steel laboratory spatula to avoid damaging the battery.

    1. The lower edge of the battery’s still glued on. Carefully lift the battery with the steel spatula and then insert the spudger.
    2. Using the spudger, carefully continue prying it out and detaching the glue.
    3. Remove the battery.

    If your battery doesn’t already have adhesive strips, make sure you put on new ones before installing the battery. If you don’t stick the battery in place, it could move around in the enclosure and get damaged or damage other parts.

    1. Put the battery in the enclosure. Make sure it’s aligned properly. The battery contact has to be pointing to the camera openings.
    2. Press the battery on firmly so the glue will stick.

    1. Put the board back in the enclosure. Press it on a little so it will click into the enclosure.
    2. The board has a little hole on the upper right and another one on the lower left. A tab on the enclosure has to go into each one. This will help you position the board.
    3. Use the two screws to fasten the board to the enclosure.

    1. Connect the display contact to the motherboard.
    2. Put the plate back on the contact.
    3. Use the screw to attach the plate to the motherboard.

    1. Put the control buttons back on the frame. The little tabs on the frame will help you with positioning. The tabs have to go through little round holes in the buttons.
    2. Press the buttons on firmly so the glue will stick.
    3. Connect the plug contact to the motherboard.

    1. Put the camera in the enclosure.
    2. Connect the contact to the motherboard by carefully pressing the connector into the socket.
    3. Put the plate back on to secure the contact.
    4. Fasten the plate with the two screws.

    1. Connect the wide flexible flat cable to the motherboard by gently pressing the contact into the socket until you hear it click into place.
    2. Now reconnect the battery.
    3. Put the plate back on to secure the contacts. The plate has to hook on both at the screw holes and in the middle.
    4. Fasten the plate with the two screws.
    5. Connect the antenna cable to the motherboard.

    1. Put the back cover at the short upper edge of the display and carefully connect the fingerprint sensor’s contact. You have to hear the contact click into place.
    2. Close the device by folding down the back cover and pressing on the display.

    1. Use the two screws at the lower edge of the enclosure to close the device.

    1. Put the SIM tray and any cards back in your device. Make sure the tray is positioned properly.
