Your P30 lite fell down and the back cover broke.

Everybody knows it, you have been inattentive for a short moment, then your faithful companion is lying on the floor and you hope that nothing is broken. Unfortunately this wish is not always fulfilled. We at iDoc wouldn't call it the end of the world! Because we provide you with a simple guide to easily replace the back cover of your HUAWEI P30 lite.

The repair is not particularly difficult and consists of only a few steps. Since the back cover of your P30 lite is already damaged, you don't have to be as careful. If your backcover is already so severely splintered that the suction cup does not want to stick to it properly, you can put a piece of adhesive tape on the glass. This will give the suction cup a better grip and makes it easier to remove the back cover.

A new fingerprint sensor is already installed on our original HUAWEI P30 lite replacement back cover. Only the connecting cable has to be detached from the old backcover and connected to the new one.

We wish you a lot of fun with the repair!

Getting started with the repair of your Huawei P30 lite

6 steps
  1. Switching off your Huawei P30 lite

    1. Switch off your Huawei P30 lite by pressing the power button.
    2. Confirm the switching off and wait until the device has shut down.
  2. Removing the back cover

In this step, the heavily glued back cover of the Huawei P30 lite must be removed.

    1. First heat the frame of the unit with hot air. A temperature of 60-80 degrees is suitable for this. By heating the frame, the glue can be removed more easily.
    2. Place a suction cup in the lower part of the backcover and pull on it while pushing your opening tool into the resulting gap.

Instead of a suction cup you can also use an iSlack. This tool works like pliers and has suction cups on both sides. To get into the narrow gap first, we recommend the opening tool iFlex, which is made of thin, strong metal. Once it is inserted, it is advisable to change to a plastic tool such as the iPlastix. This is not as easy to insert into the gap, as it is somewhat more flexible. However, it is very suitable for loosening the back cover, as it does not scratch the frame of the device.

    1. Guide a plastic plectrum into the already loosened part. This prevents the glue from reattaching.
    2. Work your way along the entire edge of the back cover. Keep heating up from time to time to make it easier to remove.
    3. Be careful and patient during this step to avoid breaking anything. The backcover is made of glass and can break easily.

Be careful not to insert your tool too far into the device. On the left side are the cameras and on the right side is the flex cable of the fingerprint sensor.

  3. Disconnecting the fingerprint sensor

    1. Remove the yellow protective film over the contact of the fingerprint sensor on the back cover.
    2. The narrow FPC cable is plugged into a horizontal socket that is located directly next to the fingerprint sensor.
    3. The cable is secured with a small plastic clip. Carefully fold the clamp upwards with tweezers and pull the cable out.
    4. Now you can put the old back cover aside.

In the picture you see the old back cover again, but with your new back cover the next steps work the same way.

    1. Take the new back cover and lead the FCP cable of the fingerprint sensor back into the socket.
Make sure that you insert it the right way round and that the cable is not twisted The cable must lie flat in the device when the back cover is put back on again.
    1. If the cable is plugged in all the way and is lying level, you can push the clamp down to fix it in place.
    2. Replace the yellow sticker back on the connector as well.
  7. Installing the back cover

    1. Now position the backcover on the device and press it down.
    2. Heat the edge of the device again with hot air and weigh down the backcover with a few books to make the glue stick even better.
