Getting started with the repair of your Fairphone 2

Removing the back cover
Pull on the back cover’s rubber rim on one of the short sides of your Fairphone, and pull the cover off one corner of the device. It’s easy to get your fingernails under the rubber rim.

Pull the back cover off the next corner of your device.

Remove your Fairphone from the enclosure.
Removing the battery
Lift the battery out of the chassis.
Unlocking the display module
There are two locks at the bottom of the Fairphone 2 to attach the display module to the chassis. You release the lock by pushing the sliders toward the Micro-USB port.

Release the locks one after the other.
Removing the display module
Once you’ve unlocked the display module, you can push it off of the chassis.

Push the display module toward the Micro-USB port. Hold the chassis at the USB port to provide resistance.

Remove the module from the chassis.
Removing the camera module
Remove the three Phillips screws that hold the camera module in place.
3 x 5.5 mm Phillips screws

Detach the module by using the flat end of the spudger to pry it out.

Remove the camera module and put it with the screws.

Installing the camera module
Position the camera module in the chassis.

Fasten the module with the three Phillips screws.

Installing the display module
Put the display on the chassis.

You can push on the display to connect it to the chassis.

Push the display module toward the front camera.
Locking the display module
There are two locks at the bottom of the Fairphone 2 to attach the display module to the chassis. You fasten the lock by pushing the sliders away from the Micro-USB port.

Fasten the locks one after the other.
Installing the battery
Put the battery in the chassis.

Make sure the battery goes all the way into the chassis and isn’t tilted.
Attaching the back cover
Put the Fairphone in the back cover lengthwise. The device can click into place in two corners of the back cover.

Pull the back cover’s rubber rim over one corner.

Pull the rubber rim over the last corner. Check whether the rubber rim is on evenly all around the display.
