Getting started with the repair of your Galaxy S22 Ultra

If you get stuck or have questions, you can post a comment. We’d be happy to help.

21 steps
  1. Switching off your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Galaxy S22 Ultra - Switching off your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 02
Galaxy S22 Ultra - Switching off your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 03

Use our checklist to test the basic functions of your Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G before repairing. This way you can check afterwards if your repair was successful.

    1. Press and hold the side and volume down button simultaneously for a few seconds.
    2. Tap on Power off in the displayed menu.
  2. Heating up the back cover

    Used tools
    Heat gun

The edge of the back cover is heavily glued. Use a heat gun or an ordinary hair dryer to heat it sufficiently.
    1. Heat the edge of the back cover by running the hot air device evenly over it.
    Used tools
  3. Lifting up the back cover

As an alternative to the suction cup, we can recommend the iSclack, which requires less force to lift up the back cover.

The iFlex can be inserted particularly well between the back cover and the screen unit due to its sharp edges.

    1. Attach a suction cup to the lower edge of the back cover and pull it upwards to create a narrow gap.
    2. At the same time, insert a flat tool into the gap between the back cover and the screen unit.

  4. Detaching the back cover

To avoid damaging the camera module, you should not insert your tool too far. At this point, the hard plastic pick is therefore particularly suitable.

In order to prevent the glue of the back cover from bonding again, we recommend sliding flat plastic picks under the back cover at regular intervals.

    1. Drive your tool completely around the edge of the back cover to loosen it piece by piece.
    2. Put the detached back cover aside.

The lower end of the charging coil is glued. The upper end is a metal cover that is screwed onto the motherboard. On that cover the NFC antenna is integrated as well.

    1. Carefully separate the connectors of charging coil and NFC antenna from the board with a spudger.
    Used tools
  6. Detaching the charging coil

    • 5 × 3.3 mm Phillips

We recommend using a screw storage, such as our magnetic pad, to keep all disassembled parts and screws safe and organized.

    1. Loosen the five Phillips screws that fix the metal cover on the board.
    2. Flip the detached cover upwards and pull the lower, glued end of the charging coil off the speaker.

    • Connector

To avoid a potential short circuit during the repair, you should always disconnect the battery as soon as possible.

When separating connectors, always start from the side where there are no small components on the board. This way you avoid potential damage.
    1. Carefully detach the orange battery connector with a spudger from the motherboard.

  8. Removing the board cover

    • Connector
    • 3 × 3.3 mm Phillips

Before you can remove the motherboard, you need to remove the board cover on top of it.

    1. First, separate the connector of the cover from the motherboard.
    2. Loosen the three Phillips screws that hold it in place.
    3. Lift the cover up and remove it from the device.
  9. Separate connectors from the motherboard

Make sure not to pinch any connectors or flexcables when inserting the motherboard. If necessary, hold them aside.

    1. Put the board back into your device. It must sit level all over.
    2. Fix it with the single Phillips screw.
  15. Attaching connectors on the motherboard

    • Connector

Be especially careful when attaching connectors and never press them down with force. A damaged connector can lead to the failure of an entire component.

    1. Reconnect front camera and S Pen by gently pressing their connectors onto the board. You must hear and feel them click into place.
  16. Installing the board cover

    • 3 × 3.3 mm Phillips
    • Connector

The plastic lugs of the board cover must snap into the case frame audibly and noticeably. If they do not, the motherboard is probably not sitting completely flat.

    1. Place the board cover back on the motherboard.
    2. Fix the cover with the three Phillips screws.
    3. Carefully press its connector back onto the board.
  17. Connecting the battery

    1. Align the charging coil over the motherboard again, according to the screw holes in the metal cover.
    2. Press its glued end tightly.
    3. Screw the cover in place with the five Phillips screws.
  19. Connecting NFC antenna and charging coil

We recommend testing the new earpiece and other basic functions at this point. Again, use our checklist for this and the internal Samsung test menu, which you call up via the code *#0*#.

If something doesn't work properly during testing, double-check that everything is installed and attached correctly.

    1. Switch on your Galaxy again.
    2. Call somebody to check the functionality of the new earpiece.
  21. Attaching a new adhesive frame (optional)

If the adhesive frame is still in good condition, you do not need to install a new one. However, if it has defects or no longer sticks properly, we recommend that you use a new adhesive frame.

    1. Align the new adhesive frame with the back cover. The cutouts in the film will help you.
    2. Peel off the carrier film from the bottom of the adhesive frame and press it onto the edge of the back cover.
    3. Now carefully peel off the remaining protective film from the top of the adhesive frame.

We recommend that you run hot air over the edge of the back cover again, so that the glue bonds properly. You can also weigh down your device with books for a few minutes.

    1. Close your Galaxy S22 Ultra after the repair by pressing the back cover back onto the screen unit.
