Getting started with the repair of your Galaxy A41

If you get stuck or have questions, you can post a comment. We’d be happy to help.

25 steps
  1. Switching off your Galaxy A41

    Galaxy A41 - Switching off your Galaxy A41 01
    Galaxy A41 - Switching off your Galaxy A41 02
    Galaxy A41 - Switching off your Galaxy A41 03

Before you start your repair, we recommend that you test the basic functions of your Galaxy A41 using our checklist. This way you can rule out the possibility that anything has been damaged during the repair.

Switch off your A41 after testing to avoid a potential short circuit.

    1. To do this, first press and hold the side and volume down key simultaneously for a few seconds.
    2. Tap on "Switch off" in the displayed menu.
    3. Your phone will now shut down completely within a few seconds.
  2. Heating up the back cover

Galaxy A41 - Heating up the back cover 01
Galaxy A41 - Heating up the back cover 02
    Used tools
    Heat gun

The Galaxy A41 is opened via its firmly glued plastic back cover. To remove it, you first have to heat the adhesive film with hot air. Use a hot air device such as a heat gun or a regular hair dryer.

    1. First, place your phone face down on a soft, clean surface.
    2. Move the hot air device evenly over the edge of the back cover.

A rule of thumb: The edge of the back cover should only be heated up to a point where you can still touch it without burning your fingers.

    Used tools
  3. Lifting up the back cover

As soon as the edge of the back cover has warmed up sufficiently, you can start to carefully remove it from the middle frame.

Please note that the manufacturer's warranty expires as soon as you open your Galaxy A41.

    1. Place a suction cup in the lower part of the back cover and pull it upwards to create a narrow gap between back cover and middle frame.
    2. At the same time try to insert a flat, stable tool into the gap to enlarge it. We recommend the iFlex for this.

The iFlex is made of very thin, stable metal and has sharp edges. To avoid scratching the frame of your device, we recommend to use the iFlex only at the beginning and to continue as early as possible with a plastic tool. The easiest way to insert your tool is to place it in one of the two corners of the lower frame of your device.

    Used tools
  4. Detaching the back cover

In the next step the back cover can be completely detached and removed.

    1. Remove the back cover from the middle frame piece by piece by moving a plastic tool along the edge of the back cover. For this purpose we use the iPlastix.
The iPlastix is made of thin, flexible plastic. Unlike the iFlex, it has no sharp edges.
    1. Insert flat plastic picks at the loosened points of the back cover frame at regular intervals, so that the adhesive cannot rebond.

Warm up the glue with hot air at regular intervals to make it easier to loosen.

    1. One the back cover is entirely detached, unfold it carefully and put it aside.
    Used tools
  5. Detaching the middle frame

    • 16 × 3.5 mm Phillips

Now start to separate the middle frame from the screen unit. It is firmly hooked and additionally fixed with 16 screws.

    1. First, remove the SIM tray from the middle frame by pressing into the small hole next to it with a small, pointed tool.
    2. Loosen the screws and keep them in a screw storage box. For this purpose we recommend our magnetic pad.
The transition between middle frame and screen unit is a little difficult to see. Therefore, look closely before you apply your tool.
    1. Insert a flat, stable tool between middle frame and screen unit. We use a hard plastic pick for this.
The hard plastic pick is particularly easy to grip due to its shape. Thanks to its pointed, flattened corners, it can be easily inserted.
    1. Remove the middle frame with the tool by pressing it upward piece by piece.
    2. Put the loosened middle frame aside and turn the screen unit back with the display panel facing down.
  6. Detaching the battery connector

    • Connector

To prevent a short circuit during the repair, you should detach the battery connector from the mainboard as soon as possible.

When detaching the battery connector make sure that you start from the side where there are no small components on the board. This will prevent possible damage.

    1. Use a sturdy plastic lever tool to slide under the battery connector and carefully lift it off. We recommend a handy plastic spudger for this purpose.
    Used tools
  7. Detaching the connecting cable

    • Connector

The main board and USB board are connected via a connecting cable. On the side of the USB board, the cable splits into two ends. One end is slightly glued and lies underneath the screen connector.

When detaching the battery connector make sure that you start from the side where there are no small components on the board. This will prevent possible damage.

    1. Start by carefully prying off the screen connector.
    2. Loosen the glued end of the connector cable with a flat, sturdy tool. We use ESD tweezers for this purpose.
    3. You can then detach the two cable connectors from the main and USB board each.
    4. Take the disconnected cable out of your device and put it aside.

    Used tools
  8. Removing the battery

The battery of the Galaxy A41 is glued to the screen unit on a large surface. To remove it, you have to heat the adhesive with hot air first.

Never heat the heat-sensitive battery directly, but only from the side of the screen panel.

Be careful not to bend or otherwise damage the battery when detaching it.

Turn your A41 with the screen upwards and run hot air evenly over the area where the battery is located.

Turn the screen back over and use a sturdy plastic tool to drive under one of the two long edges of the battery to carefully pry it up. We use a battery spudger for this.

Insert a flat plectrum at a loosened spot, so that the glue can't bond again.

Once the battery is slightly loosened, you can run a flat tool, such as the iPlastix, under the battery. Loosen it completely with a motion as if cutting with a knife.

  9. Detaching the antenna cable

    • Connector

The antenna cable for mobile reception is attached to both the main- and the USB board via connectors. It is sufficient to detach one of its two connectors.

When detaching the battery connector make sure that you start from the side where there are no small components on the board. This will prevent possible damage.

    1. Detach the connector on the USB board by carefully prying it off with a pair of tweezers.
    2. Then use tweezers to release the cable from its guide on the edge of the case.

  10. Removing the fingerprint scanner

    • Connector

Before the USB board can be taken out, the fingerprint scanner must be removed.

When detaching the connector from the fingerprint scanner, make sure to do it from the side where there are no small components on the board. This will prevent potential damage.

    1. Take a plastic spudger to lever the scanner connector off the USB board.
    2. Use tweezers to carefully slide under the scanner in order to release it from its guide.
    3. Then put the fingerprint scanner aside.
    Used tools
  11. Removing the USB board

    • 1 × 2.9 mm Phillips

The USB board is fixed in the display unit with only one screw, since it is already sufficiently fixed by the middle frame.

    1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw from the board.
    2. Afterwards, you can simply take out the board from the device with your fingers.
  12. Removing the mainboard

    • 1 × 3.0 mm Phillips

The front camera and the other end of the antenna cable are connected to the mainboard. They do not have to be detached in order to remove the mainboard. The board itself is attached to the screen unit with a single screw.

    1. Loosen the Phillips screw from the mainboard.
    2. After that you can simply take the board out of the device with your fingers.

Normally the adhesive residues on the battery's back are sufficient to fix it properly. However, thicker lumps can prevent the battery from lying evenly.

    1. If necessary, remove thicker adhesive residues and apply a new adhesive surface. We recommend our universal adhesive strips at this point.

The battery must be aligned correctly. The battery connector helps you with it.
