Taking apart the little pieces in your smartphone can be a big pain. The iFlex is tough but thin with a blade thickness of just 0.15 mm, so it fits into even the smallest spaces, like the gap between the display and frame or under the logic board. 13 steps
  1. Switch off the device

    G6 - Switch off the device 01
    G6 - Switch off the device 02
    G6 - Switch off the device 03
    1. Turn off your device by holding down the power button on the back until the “Power off” option appears.
    2. Tap to confirm and wait until the screen goes black.
  2. Remove back cover

    G6 - Remove back cover 01

    G6 - Remove back cover 04
    G6 - Remove back cover 05
    G6 - Remove back cover 06
    G6 - Remove back cover 07

To loosen the back cover, use a heat gun or an ordinary hair dryer. Warm glue is easier to loosen, allowing you to remove the back cover.

The easiest way to loosen the back cover is to use a flat and flexible tool such as the iFlex.

We also recommend inserting flat picks to prevent the glue from sticking again.

    1. Heat the entire rear glass. It's glued all around the edges and around the home button and over the USB port.
    2. Insert the iFlex between the rear glass and the frame, but not more than 5 mm.

Be extra careful, the back cover can break very easily. Don't pry with the tool, but only slide it around the edges. If necessary, apply the heat several times and try again. Removing the back cover might take a while. Take a little more time and work carefully to make sure you don't break anything.

    1. Once the rear glass comes off in one place, insert a pick into the gap to keep it open.
    2. Then run the iFlexit around all the edges to gradually loosen the glue.
    3. The rear glass has extra glue around the home button and over the USB port. Here you need to insert the iFlexit a little deeper. But not to far, or you could damage parts on the home button.
    4. Once the rear glass is unglued, you can lift it off. There's not cable attached.
  3. Remove speaker

    G6 - Remove speaker 01
    G6 - Remove speaker 02
    G6 - Remove speaker 03
    G6 - Remove speaker 04
    • 4 × 2.7 mm Phillips

The LG G6 has only one screw length and only the midframe and speaker are screwed in.

    1. Remove the equal-length Phillips screws from the speaker and store them for later.
    2. Then pry out the speaker from the side of the battery and take it out of the device.
  4. Remove midframe

    G6 - Remove midframe 01

    G6 - Remove midframe 04
    • 7 × Phillips
    1. Remove the equal-length Phillips screws from the midframe and store them for later.
    2. Slide a flat, thin tool into the opening and pry out the midframe here.
    3. The midframe is clipped into the device at 4 points. Carefully release it and take it out once it moves easily.
  5. Disconnect the battery

    G6 - Disconnect the battery 01
    G6 - Disconnect the battery 02
    • Battery Connector
    1. Disconnect the battery using a plastic tool to prevent short circuits.
  6. Remove logic board

    • Connector
    1. Unplug the two connectors on the lower side of the logic board.
    2. Then first pry out the lower side of the logic board. Also unclip the logic board on the other points where it's clipped in.
Don't bend the logic board, since it breaks easily.
  7. Remove earpiece

    G6 - Remove earpiece 02
    G6 - Remove earpiece 03
    G6 - Remove earpiece 04

    1. First release the glued flex cable of the earpiece.
    2. Then unstick the tape over the earpiece.
    3. Then carefully pry the earpiece out of its holder and take it out of the device.
  8. Insert earpiece

    G6 - Insert earpiece 01
    G6 - Insert earpiece 02
    G6 - Insert earpiece 03
    1. Put the earpiece back in its holder and press it in.
    2. Also attach the tape again.
    3. Press on the flex cable. The two holes in the cable fit on the pins in the case.
  9. Insert logic board

    2. Place the logic board back into the device.
Make sure that the battery cable and the two connectors at the bottom don't get stuck under the board.
    1. Slightly press in the logic board. It should snap in lightly.
    2. Then plug in the two connectors at the bottom of the board.
  10. Connect battery

    G6 - Connect battery 01

    • 7 × 2.7 mm Phillips
    1. Place the midframe back in the device and press it in.
    2. Fasten it using the Phillips screws.
  12. Insert speaker

    G6 - Insert speaker 01
    G6 - Insert speaker 02
    G6 - Insert speaker 03
    • 4 × 2.7 mm Phillips
    1. Place the speaker in the device and carefully press it in.
    2. Fasten the Phillips screws.
  13. Attach rear glass

    G6 - Attach rear glass 01
    G6 - Attach rear glass 02
    1. Place the rear glass back on the device and press it on.
