Removing the home button

Also the home button is attached to the inside of the display. It is screwed to the lower display edge under a silver bracket plate. The flex cable of the home button is glued.

1. First remove the bracket plate by unscrewing the Y-type screws.
2. Then you can detach the connector of the home button with a plastic spudger. The button is thereby not connected to a board, but to another connector, which is installed in the display unit.

Remember that the glued flex cable is very sensitive when you remove it. Even small damages can lead to a failure of the entire home button

1. Loosen the flex cable by sliding a pair of tweezers under it and carefully lifting it off the inside of the display.

The cable will be easier to loosen if you briefly heat it with hot air.

1. Once the complete unit of the home button is released, you can press it out of the display from the inside.
