This phenomenon is called Ghost touch. But maybe you’ve also heard of “phantom input” or “touch glitches”. In this article, we would like to explain how ghost touch can occur and what you can do to fix the problem yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can a ghost touch occur and what can you do about it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Reason 1: Your protective cover presses on your screen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you use a protective case, it can exert too much pressure on your device’s display and thus lead to problems with your touchscreen. This is because the protective case overlaps the signal of your actual finger touch so that it can’t be recognized correctly. This can also happen when you use a screen protector and there is dust or dirt underneath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, if you use a protective case or tempered glass, try it without these protections for a while. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reason 2: Dirt influences your screen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Malfunctions like the ghost touch can also be caused by dirt or water droplets on the display. These particles conduct electricity, which in turn causes a charge disturbance on the screen. This leads to errors when using your phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So in this case, it’s really simple: Thoroughly clean your mobile phone.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reason 3: Software problems<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the sensitivity of your touchscreen can also be related to the software. For this reason, it makes sense to get to the bottom of this cause. It can already help to restart your device. If that does not solve the problem, reset your settings to fix software issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restarting an iPhone<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With Android phones, a restart is easily possible via the power button. For iOS, this is a bit more complicated, so you can follow this short guide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To restart an iPhone, press the volume button briefly – first up, then down – and then hold down the power button until you see the Apple logo on the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reason 4: Hardware issues<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Maybe you’ve heard about the iPhone X, having troubles with ghost touch? Shortly after release there were many complaints<\/a> about it. But the phenomenon does not only occur with the iPhone X, but you can encounter it with all smartphones. Often, it is caused by the device itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, the Ghost touch of the iPhone X was caused by a faulty component within the display module. However, a wrong fit in the device or the motherboard can also cause a ghost touch on your smartphone. This is often the case after a repair or a fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your phone is still under warranty, you will probably get your device exchanged free of charge due to the Ghost Touch. If the problem occurs outside the warranty period or after a fall, you can check the fit of the connectors yourself and replace the spare part if necessary.
